Andy Crow, staff organist for 24 years at Tacoma's sadly lost Pizza & Pipes restaurant, began piano lessons at age 8 in his native Santa Barbara, California. He came to Washington State in 1956, having been drafted into the medical corps at Ft. Lewis. There he served as regular organist at the five chapels on the fort, and also became organist at the Roxy, Music Box, and Temple Theaters in Tacoma. After his army service, he played at the Paramount and Orpheum Theaters in Seattle.
In 1964, Andy became staff organist at the Rodgers Organ Company, which led to 15 years of touring throughout the U.S. and Canada. Teamed with Ted Alan Worth as the Worth/Crow Duo, Andy performed 366 concerts for the Community Concert Association. Andy has always been nationally active in organ preservation and restoration, both classical and theatre. Andy Crow is still active and playing around the Pacific Northwest, continuing to delight audiences of all ages with his decades of experience on the Mighty Wurlitzer. |
